Evaluation- Question 4 part 4-How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Photoshop

Here is an example of how I manipulated an image on Photoshop. Below is my original image and the image I have created through manipulating it on Photoshop. First I cropped and zoomed in on the image to make the killer appear bigger. I wanted the image to appear darker so I went into effects on Photoshop and made the image a little bit darker. I also turned up certain colours such as the green in order to make this stand out more on the image. In the background I added a mist effect to make the image look more mysterious like there is fog in the distant. For the knife I wanted it to seem as though it had blood on it however this did not happen when the photo was originally taken. To give it this effect I added dark red dots to the image, on the end of the knife, to give it the allusion it had blood on it. When looking at existing posters I used "The Strangers" as my style model. I wanted the black faded effect on the edges of my poster. To do this I used the eraser tool and selected the colour to be black. I then reduced the opacity and selected the correct size eraser so that I didn't erase the whole image.

Evaluation Question 3 part 4-What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Throughout my tasks I have consumed work on the internet through Google. I now have provided work in the form of my trailer, poster and magazine cover which could potentially be for a worldwide audience available on multiple forms on the internet. For example, My Trailer will be published on YouTube. Links to this as well as my poster and magazine cover could be presented on many social networking sites, on Google or a website.

Evaluation question 3 -What have you learned from your audience feedback?

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I made a questionnaire to get feedback from my audience. The majority of people who answered my questionnaire were in the age rating of 16-20 which is the target audience for my trailer. In the questionnaire i asked if my audience liked the music in the trailer music is an important part of a trailer as it sets the atmosphere. Everyone who answered this question said that they thought the music worked well. I also wanted to know if my audience if the trailer made my audience want to see the film as this is the main purpose of a trailer, to get the audience to see the movie. When making my questionnaire i wanted to know if my audience liked my narrative as showing a good narrative gives the audience an insight into the actual film and encourages them into wanted to see the movie.

development of my poster

I decided to change the picture for my poster as I thought that the new image suited my film more. I preferred this image as I feel as though the long shot adds to the sense of mystery and in this shot you are able to see the  I added a white mist type of effect around 'Mayfield Manor' and in the background of the photo to give it a more mysterious feel to it. I also thought it would be best to add in a website for the film as this is a poplar feature to a film poster now and gives the audience a place they can go to get more information about the film. I also added the age rating as this is an important and essential part of any poster. The Warner Brothers logo was also added to the right hand corner of the poster to give credits to the company.

Magazine cover photos

I Went back to Beamish to take photos for my Magazine cover. I have chosen to use Empire Magazine for my film to be featured on. These are some of the photos I took.

Film poster photos

I went back to Beamish to shoot photos for my poster, these were some of the shots I got.

I deided I am not going to use this image and I don't like he angle of it and I think the lighting is too bright and harsh.

I liked this shot as when researching into different horror posters it was very popular and common to have a close up shot as the image. I also lied how the knife was the main focus in this shot and  thought that the lighting was good.

When looking back at this image I liked the lighting however I did not like the positioning of the knife in this photo.

I liked this image as I thought that the long shot would add a sense of mystery to the poster and how the whole of the background was in the shot.

Development of my poster

When researching different posters I noticed they all had the same tall, thin text font for the credits. I went on Dafonts to get the font which I thought resembled this the most, for this I chose the font 'st moviehead.' I changed the background to white for the time being so I could seethe text I was adding more clearly. I then added the movie release date, a quote and 'Inspired by true events' on my poster. I added this as telling the audience it is inspired true events draws them in to watch the movie.

Development of my poster

I started to create the poster to go with my trailer. I started off by getting a font to use for my film title' Mayfield Manor' which I found on 1001 Fonts. I copied the font onto my poster and changed the colour to red. Red is a colour stereotypically used in horror trailers and films as it represents danger which is why I used this colour for my title. Next I added my slogan which I made 'Nowhere to run to. Nowhere to hide.'
